Dakota County will restore 56 acres of woodlands in the northwest corner of Spring Lake Park Reserve. This project will remove non-native woody species, clear woody material around large bur oaks, and take advantage of canopy openings to restore native plant communities.
Tree removal and other restoration activities will take place in and around the north loop of the archery range. Once woody removal work has finished, the site will then be seeded with native seed to help build fuel to allow for a prescribed burn to take place.
Funding for this project is provided by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund.
