Service providers connect their client to the Housing Resource Line, ensure their documentation is in order (social security card, disability verifications), explore other housing options while their client is on the housing wait list (CDA/HRA mainstream vouchers, affordable housing units, etc.) and assist with housing applications once a housing resource is matched to your client.

Housing Resource Line Cheat Sheet
Housing Resource Line for homeless and those in imminent risk of homelessness
The Housing Resource Line (651-554-5751) is for people experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness. If your client does not fit this description, but is still in need of services, please call Dakota County’s Adult Intake at 651-554-6000.
Average housing wait times vary
The average wait time for a housing resource varies depending on the availability of the housing resource needed by the client. Some persons may experience longer or shorter wait times depending on the specificity of their housing needs.
Housing Support (formerly Group Residential Housing)
The Housing Support program pays for room and board for seniors and adults with disabilities who have low incomes. The program aims to reduce and prevent people from living in institutions or becoming homeless.
Dakota County is not accepting Housing Support applications from prospective providers at this time.
For questions about Dakota County's Housing Support program, contact Chelsea Lorenz at chelsea.lorenz@co.dakota.mn.us.
Other housing resources available
Dakota County has housing search and placement services for those that have a housing resource (voucher) or means to pay and have barriers to finding housing.
