Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Cody Woodrow Hansen, age 26 of Hastings, was sentenced late Thursday to a stay of imposition, 5 years of probation and 30 days of electronic home monitoring for every year of probation for Stalking (Victim Under 18 – Actor More Than 36 Months Older) (Repeatedly Makes Phone Calls/Texts) in connection with numerous messages he sent to a 12-year-old female student via Snapchat from November of 2015 to early January of 2016. Hansen previously pleaded guilty to this crime on August 18, 2016.

Backstrom commented: "We are pleased to have held this former teacher accountable for this troubling and inappropriate behavior which is a crime under Minnesota law."
