Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Erik Michael Akervik, age 30 of Burnsville, pled guilty today to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 3rd Degree in connection with having sex with a 16-year-old student and sending nude photos of himself to another student. At the time of these acts, Akervik was a teacher at Burnsville High School. Akervik was also charged with a second count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 3rd Degree for the same act involving the same victim, which has been dismissed. The charge* of Electronic Solicitation of a Child (a felony) was previously severed by the Court and is now set for jury trial on July 9, 2018.

Judge Erica MacDonald ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the sentencing date for June 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in Hastings.
