Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Jason Alexander Lott, age 38 of Burnsville, was found guilty today by a Dakota County Jury of one count of Attempted Intentional Second Degree Murder, one count of Assault in the First Degree and two counts of Assault in the Second Degree in connection with the violent stabbing of his former girlfriend and his attempt to stab her 14-year-old daughter on June 16, 2015, in Burnsville. The jury deliberated for approximately four hours. Judge Christopher Lehmann ordered a pre-sentence investigation and scheduled the sentencing for March 18, 2016, at 11 a.m., in Hastings.

Backstrom commented: “We are pleased to have brought Jason Lott to justice for such a brutal attack on the mother of his child and her daughter. We will be seeking a significant prison term.”
Backstrom thanked the Burnsville Police Department for their thorough investigation into this case. Backstrom praised Assistant County Attorney Dain Olson who prosecuted the case.
