Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Daniel Anthony Cruz Hernandez, age 21 from Roseville, Minnesota, was convicted late Tuesday by a Dakota County Jury of Aiding and Abetting Intentional Murder in the Second Degree, Aiding and Abetting Felony Murder in the Second Degree, and Aiding and Abetting Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree, in connection with the stabbing death and robbery of Jordan David Paredes, age 19 of Oakdale. These offenses occurred in South St. Paul in the early morning hours of August 2, 2017. The jury deliberated for approximately 16 hours. Judge Jerome Abrams set the sentencing date for February 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in Hastings.
The jury found him not guilty of one count of Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree. The jury could not reach a verdict on two additional counts, specifically Intentional Murder in the Second Degree and Felony Murder in the Second Degree.
