Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Mike Sanchez, age 27 of Inver Grove Heights, pled guilty late yesterday to one count of First Degree Controlled Substance (Possession) in connection with receiving almost 6 pounds of cocaine and 2 pounds of methamphetamine on July 23, 2013 in Inver Grove Heights. Sanchez was sentenced by Judge Thomas Pugh to 98 months in prison. The case against co-defendant, Josue Ledezma-Lopez, is still pending.

Backstrom commented: “This case involved one of the largest seizures of cocaine ever to occur in Dakota County, along with a significant amount of methamphetamine. We are pleased to have held this defendant accountable for these major crimes.”
Backstrom praised Assistant County Attorney Kevin Golden who prosecuted the case. Backstrom thanked the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Dakota County Drug Task Force and the Minnesota State Patrol who assisted in this case for their quick response and thorough investigation.
