Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Thomas Michael Luby, age 59 of South St. Paul, was sentenced today to life in prison by Judge Joseph Carter in connection with the August 7, 2015 stabbing death of Kelly Ann Anderson, age 45, also of South St. Paul. A Dakota County Jury convicted Luby of one count each of First Degree Murder (Premeditated) and Second Degree Murder (Intentional) April 20, 2016.

Backstrom commented: “We are pleased to have brought Thomas Luby to justice for this senseless and violent crime that took the life of Kelly Anderson. Our deepest sympathy is extended to her family and friends.”
Backstrom praised Assistant County Attorney Jennifer Bovitz, who prosecuted the case. Backstrom thanked the South St. Paul Police Department, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Dakota County Electronic Crimes Unit who assisted in this investigation.
