West St. Paul Man Pleads Guilty to Criminal Vehicular Homicide and Criminal Vehicular Operation – Devereaux, Jon David
Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Jon David Devereaux, age 22 of West St. Paul, pled guilty June 13th to one count of Criminal Vehicular Homicide and six counts of Criminal Vehicular Operation in connection with a crash that occurred on November 14, 2013, in West St. Paul that resulted in the death of Robert Joseph Espinoza-Blaeser, age 21 of West St. Paul.  Devereaux was the driver with seven passengers in the car at the time of the crash.

Backstrom extended his sympathy to the family and friends of Robert Espinoza-Blaeser for their great loss. Backstrom thanked the West St. Paul Police Department for their thorough investigation of this case and the Minnesota State Patrol who completed a reconstruction of this crash.

Judge Tim Wermager ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the sentencing for August 13, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. in Hastings. Conditions of bail set at the time of these charges on January 28th remain.
