Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Divina Marie Sulentich, age 41, formerly of West St. Paul, was sentenced today to 261 months in prison by Judge David Knutson in connection with the strangulation death of her aunt Mary Susan Sulentich, age 60, also of West St. Paul, which occurred in early July of 2017. Sulentich pled guilty on August 29, 2018 to one count of Murder in the Second Degree (With Intent) (Not Premeditated).

Backstrom commented: "This was a domestic-related assault that senselessly resulted in the loss of a life in our community. We are pleased to have brought Divina Sulentich to justice for this violent crime."
On behalf of everyone involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case, Backstrom expressed his deep sympathy to the family and friends of Mary Sulentich for their great loss.
