Dakota County, in conjunction with the City of Hastings, will be testing the new back-up system for siren activation on Wednesday, March 15. We are asking you to print the following news release in your publication or communicate the information during your broadcasts so the public is aware of the test.
At 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, there will be a brief (less than onehalf minute) siren test on the City of Hastings and Dakota County sirens within ten miles of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. In the City of Hastings, only the sirens in the far southeast corner will activate during this special test. The reason for this test is to ensure the new back-up system for siren activation is working properly.
Please do not call the Communications Center. This is only a test and no actions are necessary on your part.
