Crime Victim & Witness Support

In addition to restitution, victims of violent crimes may be eligible to receive reparations. Reparations is money available from the state to assist victims who have been injured or to assist family members of murdered victims with certain costs incurred as a result of a crime, such as funeral expenses, medical care, counseling costs, lost wages and substitute child care.

The Crime Victims Reparations Board, a division of the Office of Justice Programs within the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, processes all claims for reparations. For more information about reparations, visit the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website.
