The Dakota County Historical Society will begin the Mendota After Hours lecture series at the Sibley Historic Site on Friday, June 9, 2017. The presentation will be “History of Brewing in Minnesota,” by author Doug Hoverson.
The presentation will be held at the Sibley Historic Site from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Admission to the event is $25 per person, or $20 for members of the Dakota County Historical Society, Minnesota Historical Society, and the Friends of the Sibley Historic Site.
Doug Hoverson is the author of “The Land of Amber Waters” and will present on Minnesota’s great brewing history. Throughout the night, you will explore Minnesota’s first brewery that opened in 1849 as well as the small town breweries that gave way to larger companies. Today, numerous smaller microbreweries are popping up, taking us back in time to when the smaller breweries ruled the state.
The Mendota After Hours lecture series is a monthly presentation that takes place on the second Friday each month from June to October. The presentation takes place in the Dupuis House on the Sibley Historic Site.
