Here at Dakota County, we’re pretty proud and flattered that School District 197 has asked County Manager Matt Smith to appear at tonight’s school board meeting.
A district spokeswoman says several months ago, they started looking at all the ways District 197 and Dakota County team up. We have partnerships on a wide range of topics — everything from recycling to health — and when added up, she says it was “really overwhelming” how much — and how well — we work together.
That’s why the school board is planning to recognize Dakota County at its meeting tonight (6 p.m., Mendota Heights City Hall). A Dakota County representative will attend the meeting and hopes to briefly highlight some of the positive strides our joint efforts are making.
School District 197 has 4,900 students spread between eight schools and early learning sites in the communities of West St. Paul, Mendota Heights and Eagan. By continuing to work together, we aim to better serve the students and families that are our county constituents and the bedrock of School District 197.
