The Dakota County Historical Society and Dakota County Genealogical Society are merging.
After a 30-year relationship as close affiliates, Dakota County Genealogical Society (DCGS) will become part of Dakota County Historical Society (DCHS) as a specialized working committee offering focused resources, seminars, and resource information about genealogical research.
While the transition will be formalized in September 2017, full integration of services and operations will be completed by January 2018.
The Dakota County Historical Society will continue to host genealogical seminars and provide space for genealogical services and will have an increased presence of genealogical information in the monthly Historical Society newsletter and quarterly history magazine, Over the Years.
Dakota County Historical Society is a non-profit membership organization, open to the public, operating the Lawshe Memorial Museum in South Saint Paul, and managing two historic sites, LeDuc Historic Estate in Hastings and Sibley Historic Site in Mendota. Find out more at www.dakotahistory.org.
