Area employers, business community members and others are invited to the annual Employers of Excellence event hosted by the Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board Thursday, Aug. 15. The event will be from 7:30–9:30 a.m. at the McColl Pond Environmental Learning and Event Center in Savage.
Attendees will learn ways to attract top talent and experience business growth through communication and online brand marketing. Keynote speaker will be Kari Switala, chief creative officer of Wild Fig Marketing, a boutique marketing firm specializing in business and marketing automation, email marketing and website design. Switala is passionate about helping others tell their stories so they can better connect and develop meaningful business relationships. She is the author of a new book, “Living with the Lid Up." Wild Fig Marketing was the recipient of the Workforce Development Board's Bob Klas Sr. Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2018.
In addition to Switala's presentation, the Workforce Development Board will recognize Employers of Excellence from Dakota and Scott counties. Employers who participated in the program completed a 40-question survey covering employee training and development, hiring and retention of employees, benefit plans and more. Award recipients will have top rankings in these categories and attendees will learn about some of their key initiatives.
Cost to attend the event is $15 until Monday, Aug. 12, and $20 beginning Tuesday, Aug. 13. To register, go to the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce website. For more information, call 651-554-5633.
