Heritage Library in Lakeville and the adjacent license center are closing for renovation.
Heritage Library will close Monday, Nov. 5. Library services will be unavailable from Nov. 5-19. Customers should return books and other materials at Galaxie in Apple Valley, Farmington or other locations.
The license center will close Saturday, Nov. 10. No service will be available from Nov. 10-19. Customers should visit the Burnsville or Rosemount license centers.
Both the library and license center will reopen Tuesday, Nov. 20 at an interim location at Lakeville City Hall, 20195 Holyoke Ave., Lakeville. Library customers will be able to check out holds and return books at this location during the remodel. For full library service, customers are encouraged to visit a nearby library. The license center will provide all services but with limited staff due to space. Please consider using the Burnsville or Rosemount license centers for motor vehicle transactions.
The renovated Heritage Library is expected to reopen in summer 2019. The library is being expanded by about 2,900 square feet, which will allow for the creation of a new iLab/Maker space and increase the size of the community meeting room. Other improvements include an enhanced children's space, more efficient staff workroom and quiet reading room.
The license center is being expanded by about 1,100 square feet. The new space will include a larger seating area for customers and an additional staff workstation, which will allow faster service.
