The Dakota County Historical Society is looking for people interested in playing vintage base ball. The matches will be played on Saturday, June 29, 2019. The matches will be played at Dakota City Heritage Village located at 4008 220th Street in Farmington, Minn. The first match will begin at 10 a.m. with additional matches to follow. The event is being hosted in partnership with the Dakota City Heritage Village and Rosemount Area Historical Society.
Teams will be made up of members from communities within Dakota County. If you are interested in participating in the games, contact DCHS at 651-552-7548 or email@example.com.
In addition to a team from Dakota County, the Northfield Silver Stars and St. Croix BBC out of Stillwater will be at the event.
Guests will have the chance to see base ball, spelled as two words, the way it was played in 1860. The game consisted of less than 40 rules. From ball players in the field without a glove, to catching the ball off one bounce for an out, spectators will see how the game has evolved to what we see today. Food and a silent auction will be available during the event. The silent auction will include prize packages from local and regional sports teams and businesses.
