Residents are invited to participate in the annual communitywide reading event, Inver Grove Heights Reads. Connect with your neighbors through a shared reading experience and hear author Kao Kalia Yang discuss her books “The Most Beautiful Thing" and “Somewhere in the Unknown World."

“The Most Beautiful Thing"
Saturday, Oct. 8, 9:30–10:30 a.m.
Hear author Kao Kalia Yang discuss her children's book “The Most Beautiful Thing," a story drawn from her childhood experience as a Hmong refugee. Geared for children 3 and older with their families.
“Somewhere in the Unknown World"
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 6–7 p.m.
Join Kao Kalia Yang as she discusses her book “Somewhere in the Unknown World," a collection of 14 different stories of refugees who found new lives in the Twin Cities. Geared for adults.
Traditional Finger Weaving
Wednesday, Oct. 12, 4–6 p.m.
Learn traditional finger weaving by using just your hand. Using no loom or frame, you will learn from Somali elders in this hands-on class and create a finished project to take home. Presented by The Somali Museum of Minnesota. Registration required. Geared for youth ages 8–12. Sponsored by the Friends of the Inver Glen Library.
