Dakota County residents are encouraged to step right up this spring and join the Simple Steps free walking program.
Simple Steps is a fun, easy way for people to improve their health. Residents can join an existing group or start their own. Groups can range from two to 12 people.
Simple Steps registration runs March 15–June 15. Participants can begin logging their walking time online April 1 to be eligible for prizes, including Simple Steps lunch bags and gift cards. Walking time can be logged until July 31.
For more information and to register, visit the Simples Steps webpage. A Simple Steps online starter kit includes tips and resources, including maps of interesting places to walk and bike in the county and a tool to assess the walkability of your neighborhood. Simple Steps participants can also connect on Facebook to share ideas about their favorite walking trails, offer encouragement through motivational tips and learn about local walking events.
More than 6,500 people have participated in Simple Steps over the program's past 12 years, logging more than 16 million minutes of walking.
Simple Steps is sponsored by Dakota County Public Health. Partners include cities, parks, businesses and organizations in Dakota County. For more information, call 651-554-6100.
