Dakota County Parks is reopening additional services that will make visiting the parks even more enjoyable. Beginning Friday, June 12 all park play areas and exterior restrooms will open.
Play areas are located at Thompson County Park, Spring Lake Park Reserve and Lebanon Hills Regional Park at Jensen Lake. Visitors are asked to practice physical distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet from others, except for members of the same household. Play areas are not sanitized — please wash or sanitize your hands before and after play.
Restrooms will be cleaned regularly by Parks staff. Cleaning practices follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health. Portable restrooms also are available at some park and greenway trailheads.
All of the county's parks, trails and greenways are open for public use, allowing visitors the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and improve their physical and mental health while also practicing physical distancing that is recommended to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Picnic shelters are available for use for free. Picnic tables have been located to provide safe distancing between groups. Lebanon Hills Campground is open and reservations are still available for this season. Lake Byllesby Campground is scheduled to open July 1.
The county will continue to look for ways to expand opportunities for people to safely enjoy parks and trails. For more information and tips on visiting parks, go to the Dakota County Parks COVID-19 Response page.
