Dakota County, in cooperation with the City of Eagan, is planning to reconstruct the intersections of County Road 26 (Lone Oak Road) and County Road 43 (Lexington Avenue).
The intersection of County Road 26 (Lone Oak Road) and County Road 43 (Lexington Avenue) serves as a critical link for the local and regional transportation system. Safety and operational needs exist at the current intersection. The reconstruction of the intersection will improve roadway geometry, safety, capacity and efficiency. Currently, turn lanes are mismatched and awkwardly aligned. This geometric flaw creates vehicle path conflicts that negatively affect the capacity and safety of the intersection. The project will widen Lexington Avenue to provide exclusive through lanes, dedicated dual left-turn lanes, and dedicated right turn lane.

Temporary closure of trails/sidewalk and right turn lanes may be necessary during some of the construction activities. Please use caution when traveling through this area.
Construction begins in November. Most of the work in 2019 will occur outside of the roadway. Trees will be removed as necessary beginning on Friday, Nov. 1. This work will take a few days to complete. Construction of a retaining wall in the northwest corner of the Lexington Avenue/Clubhouse Drive intersection will begin this month. Some of the private utility companies may relocate their facilities in advance of next year's work.
Most of the road work will take place during the 2020 construction season.
Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
