Dakota County, in cooperation with the City of Eagan, is planning to reconstruct the intersections of Lone Oak Road (County Road 26) and Lexington Avenue (County Road 43).
The intersection of Lone Oak Road and Lexington Avenue serves as a critical link for the local and regional transportation system. Safety and operational needs exist at the current intersection. The reconstruction of the intersection will improve roadway geometry, safety, capacity and efficiency. Currently, turn lanes are mismatched and awkwardly aligned. This geometric flaw creates vehicle path conflicts that negatively affect the capacity and safety of the intersection. The project will widen Lexington Avenue to provide exclusive through lanes, dedicated dual left-turn lanes, and dedicated right turn lane.
Work will take place in the following areas during each stage (all timeframes are approximate and are subject to change):
Stage 1 (June 8 through mid-August)
- Lexington Avenue - Clubview Drive to Lone Oak Road
- Lexington Avenue - west half of roadway between Lone Oak Road and Keefe Street
Stage 2 (June 8 through early July)
- Lone Oak Road - Denmark Avenue to Neil Armstrong Boulevard
- Lexington Avenue - Clubview Drive to Keefe Street
Stage 3 (mid-August through September)
- Lexington Avenue - east half of roadway between Lone Oak Road and Keefe Street
November 2019–October 2020
