County Road 42 (Mississippi Trail) will be reconstructed from just northeast of Highway 55 to Lock Boulevard in Nininger Township. The reconstruction includes a slight roadway alignment shift, addition of paved shoulders, left and right turn lanes or bypass lanes, new bituminous pavement, and improved ditches to infiltrate and convey stormwater drainage.

Work on the roadway will be in two stages. Stage one will be from Highway 55 to Idell Avenue. Stage two will be from Idell Avenue to Lock Boulevard. County Road 42 is closed from Idell Avenue to Lock Boulevard. The detour will use Highway 55, Highway 61 and Pleasant Avenue. Spring Lake Park Reserve is accessible from Highway 55 to County Road 42 to Idell Avenue. A detour is posted. Access to residences will remain open throughout construction. However, access may be limited to only one direction. See detour map.
The contractor will continue with tree removal throughout the entire length of the project, just waiting for a few poles to be moved. The contractor will move to the last section of Stage 2, with the placing of sand and granular material. Curb and gutter will also be installed toward the end of next week. Rock excavation will continue on the east end of the project. Utility companies will also continue moving their facilities.
