Dakota County, in cooperation with the City of Lakeville, is reconstructing 202nd Street West (County Road 50) from Holyoke Avenue to Cedar Avenue (County Road 23).
The 202nd Street West (County Road 50) corridor provides an east-west connection between Dodd Boulevard (County Road 9) and Cedar Avenue (County Road 23) within Lakeville. 202nd Street West also provides direct access to Lakeville City Hall and Public Safety, Quigley-Sime and Aronson parks, multiple residential neighborhoods, and downtown Lakeville.
202nd Street West (County Road 50) is currently an undivided two-lane rural roadway that has deteriorated. This project will reconstruct 202nd Street West from Holyoke Avenue to Cedar Avenue as a divided two-lane roadway with turn lanes at all public street intersections, trails along both sides of the roadway, and a trail underpass of County 50 just west of Highview Avenue.
Traffic control options were assessed at the intersection of Holyoke Avenue and County 50 and County 23 and County Road 50 to ensure these intersections operate as safely and efficiently as possible. A multilane roundabout is planned at the Holyoke Avenue and County 50 intersection and a traffic signal at the County 23 and 50 intersection.
Work on the roadway will be completed in two stages. Stage 1 work from west of Holyoke Avenue to east of Highview Avenue will occur between April and early July. Stage 2 work from east of Highview Avenue to Cedar Avenue is scheduled from mid-July to November.

County Road 50 – Iberia Avenue (east of Dodd Boulevard) to Highview Avenue
County Road 50 between Iperia Avenue and Highview Avenue is open to traffic.
County Road 50 – Highview Avenue to County Road 23 (Cedar Avenue)
County Road 50 between Highview Avenue and County Road 23 (Cedar Avenue) is closed to traffic until late November. Access to residences will remain open; however, access may be from only one direction. The posted detour route uses County Road 9 (Dodd Boulevard), County Road 70 (215th Street), and County Road 23 (Cedar Avenue).
County Road 23 (Cedar Avenue)
Traffic on County Road 23 may be reduced to a single lane at the intersection with County Road 50 (202nd Street). These temporary lane closures may cause minor delays, especially during peak travel times.
Holyoke Avenue is open to traffic.
Quigley-Sime Park & Aronson Park
Access to Quigley-Sime Park will be from the west on County Road 50 or from the north on Highview Avenue until late November. Use the temporary road between the two parks to access Aronson Park.
Work on the trails continues. Shaping the areas behind the curb and placing topsoil will continue between Highview Avenue and County Road 23. Crews will begin shaping the gravel in preparation of paving between Hamburg Avenue and County Road 24 later in the week of Nov. 11, weather permitting.
Work on County Road 23 near the intersection with County Road 50 is finishing up for the season. Miscellaneous cleanup work may occur.
Crews are doing what they can to try to get County Road 50 open to traffic for the winter. The goal is to open the roadway before the end of November, but this work is very dependent on the weather conditions.
Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
