Dakota County, in cooperation with the City of Lakeville, is expanding Juniper Way/215th Street (County Road 70) to a 4-lane divided roadway between Kenrick Avenue/Kensington Boulevard and Cedar Avenue (County Road 23) in Lakeville. The project will accommodate increasing traffic volumes and improve safety along a critical connection to a growing commercial area.
This expansion project includes converting the road from a 3-lane to 4-lane divided roadway. Some of the other improvements include constructing turn lanes at major intersections, reconstructing signals to accommodate the additional lanes, and improving drainage. Extending 220th Street east from Grenada Avenue to Cedar Avenue is also part of this project.
Work on Cedar Avenue includes adding a southbound right turn lane for 220th Street. About a 0.1-mile section of trail along the east side of Cedar Avenue will be constructed from the 215th Street intersection to the north to close the gap to the existing trail.
