Dakota County is working with the City of Burnsville to address traffic and mobility needs at the intersection of County Road 11 and Burnsville Parkway.
The project will replace the signal controlled intersection at County Road 11 and Burnsville Parkway with a roundabout. The project also includes some restriping and intersection approach pavement resurfacing.
The city, in partnership with the county, conducted studies of this intersection to determine the best approach. Options included replacing the signal systems with a new traffic signal meeting current standards or installing a roundabout. The previous studies concluded a roundabout is the best approach to improve intersection operation based on safety and present and future traffic. The roundabout will fit with the needs safely serve pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. Construction is scheduled for 2024.
