Traffic signal and median changes along County Highway 42, east of Akron Avenue
Dakota County, working with the City of Rosemount, is planning to install a traffic signal with overhead lighting at the intersection of County Highway 42 and Akron Avenue (County Road 73 to the north). The project will also include widening Akron Avenue south of County Highway 42 to align the roadway with the north side of Akron Avenue. Project also includes median change along County Highway 42 from east of Akron Avenue to Audrey Avenue.
The county determined a traffic signal is appropriate at the Akron Avenue intersection. The changes to the median east of Akron Avenue will continue to allow left turns from County Highway 42 and right turns. The change will restrict left turns from driveways, including the Dakota County Technical College driveways, onto County Highway 42. This design is consistent with the 2007 adopted access plan for the County Highway 42 Corridor Study.
The project is scheduled for construction in 2021. Dakota County is the lead agency.
