Dakota County, in collaboration with the City of Rosemount, is planning to install a traffic signal at the intersection of County Road 42 and Akron Avenue plus geometric improvements to the south approach (Akron Road). The project will also include median work between Akron Avenue and Audrey Avenue, including Dakota County Technical College (DCTC).
The county determined a traffic signal is the appropriate action to address operation at the intersection. Changes at DCTC two access points east of County Road 73 (north approach) and Akron Avenue (south approach) on County Road 42 and potential additional median changes would be consistent with the 2007 access updates to the CSAH 42 Corridor Study.
The project is currently scheduled for construction in 2021. The county is the lead agency.
The project work will kick off in February 2020. Public meetings on the project to gain input and share design work and schedules will be held later in 2020.
