Dakota County is constructing a new alignment of 179th Street (County Road 9) from Hayes Avenue to Cedar Avenue (County Road 23) in Lakeville. The project includes improvements along Cedar Avenue at the intersections of 179th Street (County Road 9).
The segment of existing Dodd Boulevard between Cedar Avenue and Pilot Knob Road (County Road 31) will be reconstructed as a separate project. The reconstruction is part of the jurisdictional transfer to the City of Lakeville.
The two projects were scheduled for 2022 and 2023 construction. However, due to increases in the project size and complexity, the start of construction was pushed back one season for each project, resulting in construction start dates in 2023 and 2024. We appreciate your patience and understanding with the schedule changes. See the maps for the approximate areas of construction for both the 2023 project and 2024 project.
The county assessed the County Road 31 (Pilot Knob) and 179th Street intersection to identify when a change an intersection control would be needed based on area development and the new alignment of County Road 9. The county determined a traffic signal is the appropriate traffic control at the intersection. Signal installation is scheduled for 2023. Dakota County is the lead agency.
