The Hastings segment of the Vermillion River Greenway is a proposed regional trail linking southwestern Hastings neighborhoods, Vermillion Falls Park and the Mississippi River Greenway in eastern Dakota County.
The planned project will construct and reconstruct portions of the 5.2-mile segment of the Vermillion Greenway between General Sieben Drive and the Mississippi River in Hastings. Dakota County will construct about 1 mile of new trail and reconstruct about 3 miles of existing trail.
The finished greenway segment will consist of a 10-foot wide paved trail. Other amenities will include:
- Safety and accessibility improvements of the trail crossings at Pleasant Drive, Ravenna Trail and other trail crossings through downtown streets
- Connections to local trails and sidewalks
- Seating
- Wayfinding and interpretive signage
- Landscaping
- Other features consistent with Dakota County Greenway Standards
Final design, environmental assessment, survey and engineering work and the public engagement process will begin spring 2022 and extend through summer 2023. More updates will be posted here as they become available.
