Dakota County is updating its Transportation Plan. The update revises a primary component of the Dakota County 2040 Comprehensive Plan (DC2040) adopted in June 2019. DC2040 is a broadly based land use plan developed every 10 years to prepare the County for continued growth.
DC2040 includes the vision of what the County can become over the next 20 years and incorporates a plan to address key issues affected by population growth and influence quality of life. The Transportation Plan is used to identify the County's long-term investment needs and is a basis in the development of the County's annual Capital Improvement Program.
The previous Transportation Plan was adopted in 2012. Download the 2030 Transportation Plan.
Updating the plan provides further definition and guidance in determining County transportation priorities, goals, strategies and policies. The completion and adoption of several local, regional and state transportation plans make updating the Dakota County Transportation Plan necessary.
