The Galaxie Library renovation project will be starting in February. In preparation, the library will close on Jan. 29. The renovated library is expected to reopen around Labor Day 2018.
A small interim library will open in the Western Service Center atrium at about the same time.
Services available in the interim library include:
- Holds and returns
- Law Library
- A small collection of popular titles will be available for adults
- Printer and copier
- Chromebooks may be checked out for use in the atrium
Full library services, materials and programs are available at nearby Dakota County Library locations:
The renovated library will include an iLab, reconfigured meeting and study spaces, relocated children’s collection, automated materials handling equipment (which will be viewable from a large window), a relocated book drop, and much more.
Planning for the renovation began in 2015 with a needs assessment. Schematic design with the consultant Bentz Thompson Rietow began in early 2017 and the contract for the renovation was awarded on Jan. 2, 2018.
