At Dakota County Library, we strive to create inclusive experiences for all individuals. People of all ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate in our All Abilities programs.
Library users on the autism spectrum or with sensory needs are invited to attend our Sensory-Friendly Early Open events. These events offer activities and resources that are mindful of sensory stimulation and take place during a time with little library traffic.

Explore books, music, movement and play in a sensory-friendly setting that welcomes children ages 3–8 of all abilities including those who have difficulty in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or are sensitive to sensory overload. One registration required per family. An adult must accompany each registered child. Siblings welcome.

Suicide Prevention: Question, Persuade, Refer
Learn the three steps anyone can take to help prevent suicide. Like CPR, QPR — Question, Persuade, Refer — is an emergency response that can save the life of someone in crisis. Presented by National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota.

American Sign Language 101
Get a start on learning American Sign Language and exploring Deaf culture in this four session class. Lessons are cumulative — participants must attend all sessions at the library location of their choice. Presented by Taryn Philippi. Geared for teens and adults. Registration required.
