National Poetry Month Programs

national-poetry-month.jpgSpring means poetry at the Library. Haiku, free verse, odes and sonnets—whatever your poetry style, the Dakota County Library offers several programs during National Poetry Month to get you in the writing mood. Find out about the 2013 Poetry Contest.

Teen Poetry Slam*
Join Slam Master Cynthia French for this spoken-word poetry competition. Slam competitors should arrive at 1:30 p.m. to register. Coordinated by Caponi Art Park, the Dakota County Library system and teens from the School of Environmental Studies. Ages: 12–18

Adult Poetry Contest Event*
Join poet Katrina Vandenberg to discuss The Alphabet Not Unlike the World: Poems and her other works. Winners of the 2013 Adult Poetry Contest will be announced followed by a poetry open mic.
