The new Lebanon Hills Maintenance Facility will replace the current maintenance facility located on 120th Street West. The current facility was built in the 1970s. Construction for the new building has started. Cost of construction is estimated at $26.5 million.
The new facility will be constructed on the northeast corner of Lebanon Hills Regional Park along N. Hay Lake Road. This the entrance road to the Visitor Center and Schulze Lake Beach.
The facility will have two separate parts:
Maintenance shop
The shop will include an office, heated storage and cold storage, work stations, break area and meeting rooms. It will store pickups, snow blades, small equipment like ATVs, mowers, bobcats and various tools or park storage equipment.
The building will have additional space for concrete, rock and sand, black dirt, road salt, and wood chips. It will also have a fueling area.
Greenhouse
The greenhouse will include a headhouse, with an indoor, climate-controlled area for equipment and lab work, and a new spot for a hoophouse. The existing hoophouse will be turned into a shade house.
Staff, contract workers, volunteers and Master Gardeners will use this facility.
Construction
The shell of the building is mostly complete. Contractors are focusing their work efforts on the interior of the building. Interior work will be ongoing throughout the winter and into the spring. Landscaping will be completed in early 2025. Park visitors should expect construction equipment traveling along the park entrance road to and from the construction site.
