Park enhancements are coming to the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center trailhead this year. The project has been designed, bid, and awarded to a contractor. Construction will be completed in 2024.
These enhancements include:
All-terrain track chair storage
Once completed, Dakota County Parks will introduce all-terrain track chairs. The county will build a small addition to the existing rental building this summer. It will provide storage and a place to recharge these new electric chairs. More information about the all-terrain track chairs will be available later this summer.
Yurt and deck
The project includes construction of a yurt. This is a tent-like structure large enough to accommodate a group of 30. The yurt will sit on a deck platform which includes stairs and a ramp. The ramp will make this new space accessible for all visitors. The interior of the yurt will have outlets, be lit with a skylight and interior lights, and have heating and cooling for use during all seasons.
Outdoor classrooms
Two new outdoor classrooms will be created. Both will have wood bench seating for a group of 20 to gather just off existing trails. One classroom will be southeast of Schulze Lake. The other southeast of McDonough Lake.
