We love the great outdoors and we know you do too! That's why we're pretty excited that soon, more people will be able to take full advantage of the Dakota County Parks system.
The McDonough Boardwalk project is progressing nicely (see the picture) and should be completed by March 25. The boardwalk is part of a larger project to put in a paved trail loop around the lake. The boardwalk will connect to the paved portion; that trail is expected to be finished by June 1. The best news is that the trail will make the park much more accessible for people with handicaps or mobility issues. We also plan to keep the trail cleared year round, which means even more people will be able to participate in great events like Trails by Candlelight each winter.
The McDonough Lake project is one in a series of improvements we're making to Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Combined, those projects are being completed about $230,000 under budget.
