Dakota County teamed up with the Minnesota Department of Commerce on Monday to educate seniors about protecting themselves from fraudsters and scam artists. The free event focused on how to identify scams before seniors are victimized by one. It also highlighted the latest scams that are currently making the rounds. The AARP, Better Business Bureau and the Minnesota Elder Justice Center were all on hand for the event. The Dakota County attorney and representatives from the County Sheriff’s Office and Public Health department were also there to answer questions.
If you missed the event, you can still be proactive about protecting your finances. The Minnesota Department of Commerce has a list of financial self-defense tips.
