Dakota County restored and enhanced 325 acres of woodland, wetland and prairie at Whitetail Woods Regional Park.
Funding for this project was provided from the Outdoor Heritage Fund to restore, protect and enhance Minnesota's wetlands, prairies, forests and habitat for fish, game and wildlife.

Project schedule
Winter 2015-16 and 2016-17: Woody invasive species removal
Winter 2018-2019: Tree removal
Spring through fall 2016-2018: Prairie and savanna areas prepared and seeded, invasive herbaceous species managed throughout project area
2018-2019: Continued management of invasive species. Prescribed burns in prairie, savanna and oak woodland units.
Dakota County Parks received some funding for this project through Minnesota's Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
