Friends of the Mississippi River restored 25.5 acres of oak forest and dry prairie within the Spring Lake Park Reserve. The acres are located in the Lower Spring Lake Park Reserve Trailhead by the archery range.
Restoration took place between May 2, 2014 and Dec. 31, 2017.
The restoration cost more than $30,000 with the county paying $6,000 of the cost for prairie seed. The project used correctional labor and some county staff time.
