The Burnhaven Library was last renovated in 2010. The Burnhaven Library Renovation project will make necessary updates and reorganize the interior to improve in-demand spaces to better support services and technology. The project will include new furniture, equipment, accessibility improvements, and mechanical and electrical building system upgrades.
Dakota County contracted with HGA for the professional design services.

More than 1,000 people shared their thoughts in our May 2025 renovation survey. County staff and architects shared the proposed design shaped by that feedback at an open house on June 25, 2025. Community members told us that they want a library that balances active learning with relaxing, quite spaces. Common requests included improved lighting, a refreshed children's play area, more study areas and to continue providing a strong book collection.
