Readers’ Advisory

Come to the Information Desk at any of the library’s locations. Reference librarians can match your youngest reader with the best early literacy books.

No matter what level readers you have in your household, the library makes sure they have plenty to choose from. From pre-readers to chapter books and the latest characters from Disney, Marvel and DC, there will always be something to get your child excited about reading.

Music Collection

Evidence suggests that listening to music can facilitate learning to read, by increasing children’s awareness of speech sounds, which is important in learning to "sound out" words. Research also suggests a correlation between musical abilities and reading achievement. The Library offers more than 4,000 music CDs made just for kids and library staff can help find the tune that strikes a chord with your family.

Waggin’ Tales

Bring your child to the Library to read to a certified therapy dog. It’s not only fun, it helps develop reading skills and fluency. See a list of events.

Storytimes

Introduce young children to books and reading at our fun storytimes. Each week, trained librarians specially adapt stories, songs and activities to match the age of the kids attending. Parents will learn how to foster early literacy skills to prepare their children for learning to read.  See a list of storytimes.
