Juvenile Detention

Juvenile Release

Detention of a juvenile is initially authorized by law enforcement or by a probation officer. After the authorization, the juvenile’s case must be heard by a judge within 36 hours of arrest (excluding weekends and holidays); otherwise, the juvenile must be released from custody.

The timing and location of a juvenile's release vary on a case by case basis and will be communicated to a responsible party prior to the juvenile's release.
