County Project 43-057
Dakota County and the City of Eagan want to build a missing part of the trail on the east side of Lexington Avenue. This missing piece is between Kenneth Street and Highway 55. The gap is about 1,500-feet long. Because the trail is not complete, people who walk, bike, or use wheelchairs have to cross streets where there are no crosswalks or safe places to cross.
This will make the area safer and help people travel more easily. It will also connect this trail to other trails nearby.
What was studied?
In January 2024, the county and city did a study to learn the best way to build the trail. They looked at:
- The best trail design
- How much space is needed
- If any utilities might be affected
- Drainage and environmental concerns
- How much the project might cost
This study helps decide what comes next.
