Dakota County is updating the2005 Thompson County Park Master Plan and creating a new Natural Resources Management Plan for the park.
An updated master plan is needed to ensure that future investment reflects community needs. The master plan will include a long-range vision for the park and a 10-year plan to guide future decisions about park activities, capital investment and natural resource restoration.
The Natural Resources Management Plan will address restoration priorities and provide near-term management recommendations for the natural areas in the park.
Draft concept plan
From January–February 2019, more than 700 people told us what they thought about possible park improvements. Based on that input, we developed Draft Long-Term and 10-Year Concept Plan graphics. The plan graphics address future recreation activities and natural resources restoration. The Draft Interpretive Framework will guide the integration of interpretive features into the park experience.
We want to hear what you think
The County is now of developing the Draft Master Plan and Natural Recourses Management Plan. These documents will be available for community review and feedback in September–October 2019. There will be a community open house and opportunity for online input this fall.
