Lake Marion & North Creek Greenways Management Plans

Page Content

To protect valuable natural resources, Dakota County develops the Natural Resource Management Plans that guide natural resources management of its greenways.  The plans includes a long-term vision (for the next 20 years) as well as outline more specific implementation steps over the next five years.

The 20-mile Lake Marion Greenway is located near 3,500 acres of natural areas in the cities of Burnsville, Lakeville and Farmington. The North Creek Greenway is 14 miles and provides access to 1,500 acres of public natural areas in the cities of Apple Valley and Farmington.  Both of these greenway corridors include prairies, oak woodlands, forests and wetlands that provide wildlife habitat and enhance the experiences of visitors.
