Holland Lake Trailhead Pollinator Garden

Page Content

Illustration of bee and flower with text "Turf to Pollinator Garden Project" on bottom. Parks is partnering with Wilderness in the City and Metro Blooms to install a pollinator friendly demonstration garden near the parking lot of the Holland Lake Trailhead in Lebanon Hills Regional Park.

The garden will feature only plants native to Minnesota – including plants grown from remnant populations in our own hoop house. The goal is to convert an area of grass into high-quality pollinator habitat.

Funding for this project is provided by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR).

We hope this garden will inspire park visitors to incorporate native plants into their outdoor spaces.

Project timeline

  • September–October 2023: Remove turf grass, install garden
  • Spring–fall 2024: Garden establishment and signage installation

Get involved

Volunteers are needed to help plant the garden in fall 2023 and to assist with garden maintenance in 2024.
