The Veterans Memorial Greenway is currently a 1.5-mile section of trail. Future construction is planned for 2025 and 2026. When completed, the trail will be 5 miles long. It will link Lebanon Hills Regional Park and the Mississippi River in central Dakota County.

There is a trailhead located at Rich Valley Park in Inver Grove Heights. A future trailhead is planned at 4420 Dodd Road in Eagan.

Once complete, the greenway will have eight memorial plazas. Three were built in the first phase with five more planned. They honor and recognize the sacrifice made by veterans and provide a place for healing. They have stories that inform and inspire visitors about military service.
