Woman hiking in a Dakota County Park.Hiking is a great recreational activity to help you stay physically active year-round. Dakota County offers more than 50 miles of summer and winter hiking trails throughout the park system.

Take a guided hike

Courses are available for guided nature hikes, birding hikes and other types of hiking programs year-round. See the Parks Calendar of Events for a full list of course offerings.

To find the condition of your favorite trail, you can find trail conditions online or call 651-554-6530.

Trail etiquette

Please hike on designated trails only. Hiking is not permitted on equestrian, mountain bike and cross-country ski trails. Please follow posted signs throughout the system and take care when crossing groomed ski or mountain bike trails.
