Use your library card to borrow books, e-books, audiobooks, music, movies, Wi-Fi hotspots, Chromebooks, 2GO kits and more. Individuals can borrow up to 99 items at a time. Most items can be checked out for three weeks with some exceptions.​

​There are a few exceptions. They include:

  • DVDs: 1 week
  • High-Demand items: 2 weeks
  • Lucky U's: 1 week
  • Book Group Kits: 6 weeks
  • Launchpads: 1 week
  • Wi-Fi hotspot : 4 weeks
  • Wi-Fi hotspot and Chromebook kits: 4​ weeks
  • Items from Hoopla
    • Movies and TV: 3 days
    • Music: 7 days

Borrowing from other library systems

Twin Cities Metro Area
Your Dakota County Library card allows you to borrow materials directly from any public library in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. You may then return the material to your home library. You agree to abide by the rules of the lending library, including the payment of overdue fees.

​Greater Minnesota
Your library card also enables you to borrow directly from almost every public library in the state of Minnesota. You agree to abide by the rules of the lending library, including the payment of overdue fees.
