Dakota County Library is here to support students, caregivers and educators with free educational resources and library services to support K-12 learning both in person and online.

Get a library card

Online library card

Register for a library card online and get immediate access to electronic collections, including e-books, electronic magazines, audiobooks and more, free of charge.

Student cards

For schools participating in our student card program, your student ID provides you with instant access to online one-on-one homework help, research tools, e-books, audiobooks, electronic magazines and print books — all fine free at the library.

Computer access

Computers, printers and scanners are available for use at all Dakota County Library locations, no library card required. You can also bring your own laptop or device and use the library's free Wi-Fi to access the internet inside the library or in​ our library parking lots.

Homework H​​elp

During the school year, volunteer tutors are available to help with homework assignments for K-12​ students at the Galaxie, Wentworth and Burnhaven libraries. Find out more about Homework Help.  

Study and m​​eeting rooms

All​ library locations have individual study rooms available on a first-come basis. Meeting and conference rooms for larger groups are available for reserv​ation.

We have a wide variety of online research tools available.​

Online homework help

Help with your homework is just a click away. HelpNow provides online tutoring for students in grades K–12 and college in both English and Spanish. Live tutors are available from 1–11 p.m. daily.

Wi-Fi hotspots & Chromebooks

Check out a Wi-Fi hotspot or a kit containing both a Wi-Fi hotspot and Chromebook laptop for free internet service at home or on the go.

FAFSA assistance

Live, online FAFSA assistance is available through HelpNow to assist anyone who needs help completing the FAFSA form for student financial aid.
